April Deadlines!

Hello bodies!

Our April line up consists of:
Victoria (2)
Sadie (2)
Penny (1)
Nada (2)
Paige (2)
Queen Pillowtop (2)
And, of course, Mickey as your Emcee!

Next to your name is a number and that reflects how many numbers you have to do. Penny has requested only one for this show. If anyone would like to take more, please say so! I think Queen Pillowtop would prefer to only have 1 number. This show could stand to be a bit longer - Dean and I are talking about adding some bits or another round of the burlesque game to lengthen it without requiring more of the dancers. For now, start with this and let me know if you would like to take on more. Please, no more than 3 numbers a person.

We have the space at Buckham for a whole week before the show. Let's take advantage of that by meeting for at least one rehearsal prior to tech. This will be a great time to give feedback and there will be plenty of time for you to tweak your act. I'll be getting out the exact schedule ASAP so send conflicts for the week prior to April 2nd.

We have Arlow Xan opening for us! Should be a great show. Remember our theme is 'Strong Women in Music'. The title lends itself to something more serious, but remember - comedy really runs the machine that we've built. Don't forget to add that in whenever possible.

I'd really like everyone to focus on high glamour for these shows. I think it helps make the distinction between burlesque and theatre. Give yourself plenty of time to get your look down on show day. It's really important to help the audience separate you from your character.

  1. Questions:

What time is the show going to be at on April 2nd?
Does anyone have their numbers picked yet?

  2. Good question! Right now I'm talking with Buckham about times, but I'd like for Arlow Xan to open for us at 7 and for us to go up at 8pm.

I'm singing "Leather" by Tori Amos and dancing to "Otto Titsling" by Bette Midler

  3. Thanks!

I know I am going to do male drag version of Etta James singing It's a man's world. I have a couple of things I am mulling over for my second number.

As for filler, what if we did a cutesy group number? Like all of us wear bathrobes and do "I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair"? It is vintage and the choreography really wouldn't have to be all that hard.

  4. I would love to be in any group numbers that come about, and if my energy is back by then, I am totally OK with doing a second number if the show needs to be longer.

I want to dance to "Folding Chair" by Regina Spektor and do a sex-pot "mommy" ending up in a vintage bathing suit kind of thing (very glam). I have some propping I want to do for the number as well to be very vintage/burlesque-esque. It will be comedic because comedy works best for me.
