April 2nd-TECH?

Hello all.

Given scheduling conflicts, I would really like to do tech the day of the show. We do have all week to be in the space, so Dan and I will build a stage and set lights the week of. Liz can come in at her leisure and get situated and anyone else who wants to view the space is free to do so. Then on Saturday (day of the show) we would meet around 11am to run the show once and meet back there to perform that evening.

This will require that I see everyone's numbers BEFORE tech so that if something needs to be re-worked it can be. I know that sometimes people leave feeling like their concepts need to be re-worked, so doing it this way would mean people have to be solid.

I'd like input, please. Thanks!

Kristina

April show DEADLINES!!!!

Hello all!

I need your songs for the April show by Friday, March 18th and I need full song concepts emailed or otherwise explained to me by March 25th.

I still haven't heard back from most people about when they are available for rehearsal. If I don't get more conflicts I'll have to set the date and assume you can make whatever I decide.

Thanks, ladies.

April Deadlines!

Hello bodies!

Our April line up consists of:
Victoria (2)
Sadie (2)
Penny (1)
Nada (2)
Paige (2)
Queen Pillowtop (2)
And, of course, Mickey as your Emcee!

Next to your name is a number and that reflects how many numbers you have to do. Penny has requested only one for this show. If anyone would like to take more, please say so! I think Queen Pillowtop would prefer to only have 1 number. This show could stand to be a bit longer - Dean and I are talking about adding some bits or another round of the burlesque game to lengthen it without requiring more of the dancers. For now, start with this and let me know if you would like to take on more. Please, no more than 3 numbers a person.

We have the space at Buckham for a whole week before the show. Let's take advantage of that by meeting for at least one rehearsal prior to tech. This will be a great time to give feedback and there will be plenty of time for you to tweak your act. I'll be getting out the exact schedule ASAP so send conflicts for the week prior to April 2nd.

We have Arlow Xan opening for us! Should be a great show. Remember our theme is 'Strong Women in Music'. The title lends itself to something more serious, but remember - comedy really runs the machine that we've built. Don't forget to add that in whenever possible.

I'd really like everyone to focus on high glamour for these shows. I think it helps make the distinction between burlesque and theatre. Give yourself plenty of time to get your look down on show day. It's really important to help the audience separate you from your character.

Tech this Friday and other important things!

Hi lovelies!

Tech for "The Fischer Bodies Travel Through Time" is THIS Friday, March 4th at 7pm. Please be on time for this! There will be a small film crew there getting footage for a commercial that is being made by my friend Jon for his class at MCC. It would be best if you come in make-up, but if you cannot it's alright.

There is an event going on at GFAC on Saturday, March 5th from 2-7 and we have permission to go there and pimp our show in character and dress. I plan to attend at some point and would like to go with other people. What times work best for those that can attend?

Also! The Flint Journal is doing a story for our show on the 5th. There are going to be all kinds of new people there so it's especially important that you work on your numbers hard this week. At least half of you haven't gotten song concepts to me at all so I admit I'm a bit nervous. It's critical that I know what you're doing. We can't help each other if we don't communicate. I do plan to have a chat about this very thing at some point before the tech on Friday.

Thanks!

April Show - Are you participating?

Hello all!

I need a count for the April Show. You are all welcome to perform, but we are only putting on an hour worth of show. I know that some of you had three songs picked out, and it may not pan out that way depending on who can participate.

The theme is Strong Women in Music.

If you will be participating please respond below. I need answers by this coming Monday Feb/28. If I don't hear from you I will have to assume it's a no.

Thanks!

Call Times for Wednesday, Feb. 16th

Hello all! What a great dress rehearsal yesterday. I'm really excited for the show on Wednesday. Remember to practice between now and then. :)

Call times for Wednesday are:

4:30 - If you would like to come get ready at my house you are welcome to come over. I'll open my doors around 4:30, but it may only be Dan here for a bit as I have another obligation that could last a bit longer.

7:00 - You must all be at The Zoo by 7pm. Seriously. Honestly. 7pm. Please come with your hair and makeup done and saunter to the back room. We will be getting dressed there. I'm going to see if we can open the back door (the one that leads to the smoking room) so that we can all enter incognito that way. Please try that door first.

Any questions? Respond here, call or email.

Thanks dolls!

Tech Rehearsal on Sunday - Time change!

Hello all!!

Sorry about the last minute changes, but the tech rehearsal on Sunday is now at 3pm instead of noon. There was a hiccup in communication between Jessica and myself, not the owners of the bar. I have received OK's from everyone, but wanted to post it here as well.

There will be someone coming to film so if you have time to do hair and makeup please do! We may be able to use the footage for future promotional items, but we want to look our best.

I would like to get started ASAP so please come organized and ready to go. DO NOT BE LATE!!!!!!! If something comes up (emergency!) please call me and let me know. If you're all on time I will do my very best to get the show up and running quickly.

Thanks dolls!

Songs for March 5

Hello all!

I have one song for the show on March 5th. I need quite a few more. Please get your song to me by Saturday, or if you need to burn it and give me a hard copy I will accept it on Sunday when we meet for our tech. But I won't accept it later than that - for reals.

Thanks!

Saturday at The Zoo

Hi guys!

Informal announcement/reminder. I/we/whoever wants to will be headed to The Zoo on Saturday night for the "Disney After Dark" drag show. I think this would be a great way to support the venue that is supporting us and get our faces scene. Plus Disney Drag is too good to miss. The show starts at 10:30, but I'd like to get there at least by 10. Maybe even 9? I think the earlier the better to ensure good seats and a chance to hang out before the show. It's only about an hour long.

Ideally we will all dress for the occasion to represent The Fischer Bodies. I'll probably stick with something classic and sexy. I invite you all to do the same.

Thanks!

March 5th Show - Deadlines!

Hello bodies!

We've got some really important deadlines for the March show! It's in less than a month. GAH!

Saturday, February 12th - ALL songs must be in. Not just the title of the song and not a youtube version. An actual version that I can own and put on a play list. Songs should not exceed 3 minutes and 30 seconds in length.

Sunday, February 20th - Show me date! I need to see at least 80% of your dance.

There will be other rehearsals at The Lunch Studio and all of that will be worked out *hopefully* soon and posted here.

As these shows book up it's important to stay true to our deadlines. If we can't, the quality of work will be lacking and some will fall behind and those that are not keeping up with it will really feel bad when their numbers are not as well recieved as the rest. I'd like for that to not happen so I'm giving some fair warning now. *If your song is not in by the deadline we will not be doing it and the number will be given to someone else. If your dance is not at least 80% complete by the show me date you will not be able to perform it in the show.*

Really, I'm not trying to be harsh. This is what we need to do to maintain our audience, improve our acts and keep booking shows. Remember, it's okay to say that you cannot commit to a show one month but it isn't okay to commit and then not be prepared. This also goes for lateness! I start on time, if you're not there (save real emergencies and things you've worked out with me beforehand) you may not be asked to perform in the next show. I want this to be fun but it also needs to be professional. That's how we create a success!!
